GARBAGE SERVICE

The Town of Wallkill controls the rates charged within the Town, we do not control how they do business. The County of Orange controls the recycling program and only requires that they do pick up recyclable items.

In June of 2006, with Local Law # 3 of 2004, the Town changed the law that would allow the Town Board to change the rate by resolution. The Town Board did vote at the April meeting to the change the rates.

The old Rates were:
11.25 to 21.00 for 1X a week pickup
14.00 to 24.00 for 2X a week pickup
19.00 for 1X a week pickup for Seniors over 65
22.00 for 2X a week pickup for Seniors over 65

The new Rates are:
Container of 35 gals - 25.00 a month/1X a week pickup
Container of 65 gals - 28.50 a month/1X a week pickup
Container of 95 gals - 33.50 a month/1X a week pickup
Container of 35 gals - 23.00 a month/1X a week pickup (Seniors over 65)
Container of 65 gals - 26.50 a month/1X a week pickup (Seniors over 65)
Container of 95 gals - 31.50 a month/1X a week pickup (Seniors over 65)

In addition, they will collect one bulk item per week at no additional charge, just call your collector and let them know about the item and have it out for Saturday AM pickup.

Billing will be monthly, a change from the quarterly billing

When you were notified, there was a new container and instructions. Everyone was given a 95 gal container and will be charged that rate unless you call and ask for it to be changed.
