Re:
Marketing & Maintenance Roundtables 2003
I
have received a letter (copy attached) from Stephanie Mielnik
of the Transit Services Bureau of the NYS DOT asking that I make
every effort to attend this year’s session of the Marketing
& Maintenance Roundtables.
From
the letter, it would seen that there was a meeting last year and
this is a follow-up to that one and there likely will be one again
next year. To my knowledge, no one from the Town of Wallkill attended
last year’s session. However, I would like to establish
ourselves with this group since we could possibly reap some benefit
from it.
As
you can see from the brochure, copy of which is attached, the
entire seminar takes place over only one day in Kingston –
March 5th for Orange County. The marketing session is in the morning
and the maintenance (geared toward accountability) in the afternoon.
I would very much like it if Doug or Mike from the garage could
attend at least the afternoon session with me. If neither one
of them is able to attend, I will meet with Doug and take his
questions and suggestions with me. There is no fee for attending
the seminar and RTAP funds will cover mileage and tolls.
Kindly
advise ASAP so that I can make all the appropriate arrangements.

Re:
Rural & Specialized Transit Conference 2003
February 27, 2003
On
March 26-27, the NYS Dept. of Transportation will hold a Rural
& Specialized Transit Conference in Syracuse, New York. Last
November I attended NYPTA Conference in Saratoga Springs, New
York. One of the luncheons was specifically geared toward “small
transit operators” which, of course, we are.
This
is an annual conference which I would like to attend. Other conferences
that I have been allowed to attend have given me invaluable information.
This one, being specifically focused on smaller transit operations,
is likely to be invaluable as well.
There
is no charge for the conference and other costs will be covered
by RTAP funds.
I
only have a small brochure, a copy of which I have enclosed. The
itinerary is being mailed out next week. However, hotel reservations
need to be made by March 1st, therefore, I need to know whether
or I not I will be permitted to attend.
Thank
you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Re:
Equipment Purchase Recommendation
On
Thursday, February 20, 2003 at 2:00pm, the Town Clerk opened publicly
and read aloud sealed bids for the purchase of one (1) new topdressing
spreader and one (1) new compost spreader as per our legal notice
posted in the Times Herald Record on Wednesday, February 5, 2003.
Upon
reviewing the bids submitted, I recommend the purchase of the
new topdressing spreader for $9,244.00 to Storr Tractor Company,
3191 Route 22, Somerville, New Jersey 08876.
February 27, 2003
I
also recommend the purchase of the compost spreader for $5,700.00
to E/T Equipment Company, Inc., 425 South Riverside Ave., Croton-on-Hudson,
NY 10520.
Both
of these companies submitted the lowest responsible bids and met
all specifications.
Please
feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for
your time and consideration.
