TOWN OF WALLKILL
LOCAL LAW NO. 2 OF 2004

A LOCAL LAW AMENDING THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF WALLKILL, COUNTY OF ORANGE, NEW YORK DESIGNATING A STOP INTERSECTION

Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Wallkill as follows:

Section 1. The Town of Wallkill Town Code Chapter 233. VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, Article II. Stop and Yield Intersections and hereby is amended by this Local Law as follows:

(A) Under 233-4. Stop Intersections add the following:

(1) Under “Stop Sign on”, add “Avenue C”,
Under “Direction of Travel”, add “West”
Under “At Intersection of”, add “Bellvernon Avenue”

(2) Under “Stop Sign on”, add “Bellvernon Avenue”;
Under “Direction of Travel”, add “Both”
Under “At Intersection of”, add “Avenue C”

Section 2. Separability

If any part or provision of this Local Law or the application thereof to any person or circumstance be adjudged invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such judgment shall be confined in its operation to the part or provision or application directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment shall have been rendered and shall not affect or impair the validity of the remainder of this Local Law or the application thereof to other persons or circumstances, and the Town Board of the Town of Wallkill hereby declares that it would have passed this Local Law or the remainder thereof had such invalid application or invalid provision been apparent.

Section 3. Repeal

All ordinances, local laws and parts thereof inconsistent with this Local Law are hereby repealed.

Section 4. Effective Date

This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the New York State Secretary of State in accordance with section 27 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.

COUNCILMAN DEPEW: Gave presentation on Fourth Ward representation on Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board.

There was discussion on the tabling of the three appointments.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

COUNCILMAN KING: Finance Committee met and discussed expenditures for seminars. Set Highway Committee meeting April 15, 2004 at 7 PM.

COUNCILMAN VALENTIN: Announced Soccer session starts April 17th and fields need dirt and seed. Set Parks & Recreation meeting Wednesday 7 PM. Thanked Mr. Lippert and DOT for addressing issue of debris along Rt. 17 and improvements on Scotchthown Place.

COUNCILMAN MULQUEEN: Finance Committee working on purchasing policies.

 

COUNCILMAN COMMENTS

COUNCILMAN KING: Wished all happy holidays especially to service families. Thanked all who applied for Board seats.

COUNCILMAN VALENTIN: Wished all happy holidays.

COUNCILMAN MULQUEEN: Impressed with all who applied for various positions. Expressed concern about meeting tonight and not allowing public participation. Wished all happy holy week. Will not be in attendance next year if meeting on holy day. Thinks Townley Hall purchase was good idea. Concerned with growth in Wallkill.

COUNCILMAN DEPEW: No comments if public not allowed to speak. He will save his comments for next meeting.

 

SUPERVISOR COMMENTS

SUPERVISOR WARD: Still looking into law on Conservation Commission. Wished all Happy Easter and Passover.

 

Mr. Smith: Announced hydrant flushing to begin April 12th.

Mr. Lippert: Announced Little League Parade April 17th at Stephens Avenue Park. Eagle Scouts sponsoring cemetery preservation at Rockville Cemetery on VanBurenville Road. Bulk pickup information posted on website.

SUPERVISOR WARD: Board discussed no public participation a month ago and all were in favor of it.

COUNCILMAN KING: Resident stated there should be no meetings during Passover.

MOTION BY: Mr. Ward to adjourn and audit claims at 8:45 PM.
