From: Middletown Wallkill Veteran’s Council

On behalf of The Veteran’s Committee representing Middletown/ Town of Wallkill in regards to the Memorial Day parade, we are requesting a generous and fitting donation, as you have done in the past, to offset the cost of wreaths and flags for the memorial Day Services. Keeping in mind that the cost of wreaths as well as everything else has increased in cost we are hoping that you will give as in the past or a little bit more if possible. Please advise at your earliest convenience as to your donation.

During these uncertain and unstable times of war, we would like to pay tribute to our deceased veterans, as well as paying tribute to those now serving. Let us make this an extra special year!

To: Supervisor and Councilmen
From: Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Jay Mader

The Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps is celebrating our 30th Anniversay this year. We are hoping to raise funds to help sponsor some fun activities during the celebrations we are planning this summer.

We want to hold a coin drop on North Galleria Drive, near the stop light, on April 12, 2003. The Ambulance would be parked in that far corner of Sam’s Club parking lot. Our volunteers would be placed along the grassy median. Many signs would be placed well before the cars reached us so as not to cause a panic when cars slow up to donate.

April 10, 2003

The Corps is in hopes that you will consider this a worthwhile endeavor for us to undertake. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Councilman Depew recommends that the Chief of Police be made aware.

To: Supervisor Ward
From: Pat Threm, Chairman- Civic Beautification

Last summer the Garden Lovers’ Club did some plantings at the Veteran Park at the corner of North St. and Highland Ave. Extension. We planted two weeping cherry trees, two white rhododendrons, four harlequin euonymous shrubs and several annuals.

The Club’s Civic Beautification Committee would like to continue working at the park on a yearly basis by planting annuals around the monuments each year and replacing trees and/or shrubs as our budget will allow.

We would like approval from the Town to proceed with this undertaking. We have clean up scheduled for April 24, 2003. Please advise us prior to that date. If you have any further question, I can be reached at xxx-xxxx.

From: Phil. Hess, Store manager, Sears

Re: Tent permit for a Lawn and Garden Promotion for Sears

Sears, Galleria Mall would appreciate your considerations and approval to allow the use of a 30 foot by 40 foot tent for the purpose of displaying for sale Lawn and Garden equipment for sales during the time of Thursday to Monday over the weekends of April 10 to April 14 (5 days) and the weekend of May 8 to May 12 (5 days). The tents will be rented from Orange County Rental and they will be responsible to put the tents up and remove the tents. The purpose of the tent will be to provide cover from the weather and to allow Sears to display lawn mowers, lawn tractors, and lawn maintenance equipment to the general public from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM each day. Merchandise will be removed from the tents each night and returned to the store for security purposes.

The tents will be located on the upper level parking lot located near our merchandise pick-up area and in the parking spaces closest to the store so as not to obstruct and access to the fire lines, restricted spaces or the normal flow of traffic in the parking lot. The location will be supervised by Sears associates all hours that merchandise is present and safety cones and caution tape will be set up to properly establish proper safety standards for the general public. The area will be properly marked for safety after normal business hours.

This is the first time Sears has requested a tent and we are very concerned to provide a safe and pleasant sales environment for our customers and associates. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please contact me, if you need further information.
