We
recognize that many people are reluctant to notify the police about
their suspicions, concerns, or even just their "gut" feelings
about what they think is criminal activity, or maybe things that " just
don't look right."
Quite
often, citizens' hunches turn out to be valuable information for
us. If you have information that you feel we should know about,
we encourage you to leave us an e-mail.
Feel
free to submit a tip, you can do so anonymously.
If
the information you have is of an urgent nature, it is important
that you telephone someone in the department instead, because e-mail
messages are not read on a daily basis.
Any
information that you provide us will be held strictly confidential.
Your information will passed on to the appropriate division within
our department. If you would like to have an officer return your
message, you may leave your telephone number and someone will contact
you as soon as possible.

you like to leave us a suggestion?

The
Town of Wallkill Police Department suggestions are generally
read a least twice a week. Please allow us a reasonable amount
of time
to respond to your suggestion. If your communication is of an urgent
nature, please telephone us instead.

Neighborhood
Watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent
crime and reduce fear. It fights the isolation that crime both
creates and feeds upon. It forges bonds among area residents, helps
reduce burglaries and robberies, and improves relations between
police and the communities they serve.
As
a member of Neighborhood Watch, you make a vital contribution to
the safety of your family, home and community. You are encouraged
to be aware and to act as the "eyes and ears" of the
police.
Neighborhood
Watch consists of two basic steps:
1.
Reporting suspicious and criminal activity to the police.
2.
Engraving and making an inventory of your valuables.
The
real keys to this program, however, are getting to know your neighbors
and sharing with them the responsibility of protecting your neighborhood.
If
you live in one of these areas and are interested in joining neighborhood
watch, please give us a call.
